Rowel Ink Tattoo

Tattoo Aftercare

Please read these instructions carefully after your tattoo.

General information

A tattoo is an open wound and must be cared for properly to prevent infection. Always follow these instructions until the skin has completely healed (usually 2–4 weeks).

First 24 hours

01.

Keep the tattoo covered with the protective film as advised by your artist (typically 12–24 hours).

02.

Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattoo.

03.

Carefully remove the film and wash the area with lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap.

04.

Pat dry gently with a clean paper towel (do not rub).

05.

Apply a thin layer of the recommended tattoo ointment.

06.

Do not re-cover the tattoo unless specifically instructed by your artist.

The following days

✓

Clean the tattoo morning and evening with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water.

✓

Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment 2–3 times per day.

✓

Let the skin breathe — do not cover with plastic film or tight clothing.

✓

Avoid scratching or picking any scabs.

✓

Change to clean bedding and loose clothing daily.

AVOID DURING HEALING

Direct sunlight or tanning beds.

Swimming in pools, lakes or the sea, and soaking in the bath.

Saunas or heavy sweating.

Perfumed creams, oils or alcohol-based products on the tattoo.

When to seek medical advice

If you notice increasing redness, swelling, warmth, discharge or fever, contact a healthcare centre. Mild redness is normal, but worsening symptoms can indicate infection.

Healing time

The outer layer of the tattoo usually heals within 7–14 days, but full healing takes 4–6 weeks. Continue applying a thin layer of ointment throughout this period.
